Want to win a signed Lionel Messi Argentina shirt? All you have to do is create a video explaining why you should win the shirt, and send us your best effort. Click here for full details.
Real Madrid continues to make the power moves and it makes you wonder whether they have a spy inside the Manchester United camp as they seem to be nipping each player that Sir Alex has his eye set on. Ribbery says he wants to leave Bayern although club officials say he isn’t going anywhere. Needless to say, Steven and Kenny keep things interesting here at WSD. In the second hour, we may be joined by Bura, our Turkish football correspondent who will hopefully be stopping by the studio.
Transfer rumors are coming thick and fast, and truly this silly season is going by quickly. In case you were unaware, the Champions League actually began yesterday with some opening round qualifying matches. Of course the big name teams have a couple months still to prep for their entry into the biggest European club tournament there is, but with the European season just around the corner, it is incredibly difficult to take an eye off what’s going on. Remember, Steven and Kenny will be taking Friday and Monday off so make sure to get your calls and emails in. Today’s guest is a freelance writer in England, Kristan Heneage, who will be joining the boys to cover all things Newcastle as he is one of the biggest Geordies around.
Killian sharpens up his asymmetric warfare skills to get that Messi shirt.
We just got the newest pics of Kenny’s baby, and it looks just like him! Judging from that strong spine, (s)he’s either destined to be a footballer, or a pizza cook.
Are we sure that's a spine? Looks like a boy to me.
More pics of the newest Hassan after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
Poor Nico. Everywhere he goes, everything he sees, looks like Messi to he.
Susan has Messi fever, and the prognosis is grim. Life without a mother is hard, and no doubt Chad is destined for the coal mines if his mom doesn’t get that shirt.
Still recovering from the weekend? We are. The historic significance of what The United States Men’s National Soccer team accomplished was incredible and worth spending an entire week on. WSD will drag it out for at least another day before trying to move on to the rest of the world, as we all know that the US is not the biggest footballing nation by any means. England was stomped by Germany 4-0 in the U-21 Championships. Samuel Eto’o is saying he would rather stay in Barcelona than go to City, but we join Manchester City if FCB cannot work out a new contract. Gold Cup is coming up and there is even MLS news to talk about, so call in or email Steven and Kenny. No guests today, so take the show and make it you own.
Today’s show is solely dedicated to the US “soccer” fan. After the USMNT goes 2-nil up at half against one of the greatest footballing nations in the world, the American end up falling to Brazil 3-2 in the Confederations Cup Final. Personally, the loss was hard to take, especially after the high I felt after the first 45 minutes, but within 46 seconds of the second half, you could sense that the game was no where near finished and Brazil showed the definition of World Class footballers. Call in or email Steven and Kenny and give your opinions and views of the match. Does this tournament bring in new viewers to the sport here in America? The show is all yours.
Twins sends in this entry. If I remember correctly, it also includes some words, although I wasn’t able to read them:
Brian in Ohio sends in this deeply nuanced argument:
There will a rematch of the United States against Brazil in the Confederations Cup Final this weekend. What does this mean for a country who has never really taken the sport too serious? How will American soccer supporters be watching and celebrating this Final appearance? In the first hour, Steven and Kenny are joined by Tim Vickery. Tim, our South American Footballing Guru, goes into tremendous detail into the Brazilian squad. The rest of the show is all yours, so get your calls and emails into the show! Listen live via satellite radio or watch the ustream at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/world-soccer-daily
Jordan has another bite of the cherry:
Objectivo celebrates our amazing turnaround in the Confederations Cup and legendary victory over Spain with a new shirt!
And the miracle continues on into the Confederations Cup Final…
After such an epic upset and given our locale, you better believe that we here at WSD are looking forward to breaking down the upset that was witnessed by the world. Its still hard to believe, but the United States Men’s National Team took on Spain in a competitive soccer match and won… 2-0. Is this just a fluke or is it foreshadowing success to come next summer? Call in and give us your opinion on all things USMNT. In the last half hour, we are joined by Bura, our Turkish football correspondent. He is in town and dropping by to round things up in the Turkish League as well as give us a breakdown on the Egyptian fall in the US match. Make sure to call in or email. Listen live via satellite radio, or watch the live video stream at ustream.tv
A subtle, and well-reasoned appeal. It’s not about Manny, it’s about the well-being of that shirt.
Follow the fall of Setanta, as World Soccer Daily gives it’s listeners the up to date coverage from inside the company. Immediately, as the show opens, Steven and Kenny are joined by Shane O’Rourke of Setanta who gives us a little more on the collapse of the sports broadcasting channel. Later, Misha Sher joins WSD to give his financial view of the beautiful game. The US has quite the fixture today. It’s not often you get to challenge yourself against the best in the world, but that is exactly what the Americans will be facing tonight. Got an opinion, then let us know. Write us an email or call us live!
Jeremy and Junior make their case — won’t somebody think of the children?
Kenny is back after having a tremendous birthday yesterday. We prep for the Semi-final matches of the Confederations Cup. It’s good to be still mentioning the Americans. Think back to the draw and what it felt like to be in the same group as both Italy and Brazil? Now the American face off against the classy of the class, Spain. This is the best preparation the United States can get when looking forward to next summer. Today we open the show with the breaking news of Setanta going into Administration and Rebecca Lowe joins us to tell all. In the second hour we are joined by another South African correspondent, David O’Sullivan. So make sure to get your calls and emails in. Get passionate, show heart! This is football and this is why we are here.
